For those who have been following my blog since the beginning, you all know this started as a blogspot subdomain blog called callcenterveteran.blogspot.com. Then about January this year, I decided to get my own domain name for several important reasons.
First of those reasons was my decision to continue blogging as a profession. Blogging has opened doors for me that I thought wasn't even possible. Currently as a pro blogger, I earn roughly $500 a month in between 2 blogs through advertising. I thought it was necessary for me to get my own domain name because most advertisers prefer blogs that have its own dot com domain. Secondly, it was a matter of branding myself and securing my name as an authority in my chosen niche which is as call center blogger. Hence the domain callcenterblogger.com.
If you're planning to go on blogging for a longer time even if it is not as a professional earning money through it, I strongly suggest you to get your own domain name for the same reasons. As a website owner, your goal is to be read and viewed by others. It is therefore important that you're website address is simple to remember for better recall. We have to admit callcenterblogger.com is easier to remember than callcenterveteran.blogspot.com. If you want to be remembered by your name then that would be much better. People who already know you by your name can easily just type in your domain procopiotacio.com instead of procopiotacio.wordpress.com. All you need to do now is just tell them...Right?
Nowadays, domains are NOT expensive at all. You can get your own domain name through Yahoo.com Small Business for only $1.99 or roughly 80 pesos for one year. Click here to use my very own secret link to this cheap Yahoo domain promotion. If you want value for your domain purchase, register a domain name through www.GoDaddy.com and get additional stuff like free web hosting, your very own email address and a lot more. Godaddy's price ain't too expensive as well. It's only $6.95. Use discount codes from ashoppy.com to get it at a cheaper price.
Even if you're not really making any money out of your blogs, it still really does make sense to get your own domain name.

nice to see you have your own domain. i am actually thinking if having my own domain... would it bring me more money through blogging?
Hi Berry, Thanks for the comment.
About your question, having your own domain name does not directly bring you money.
It is more of an indirect thing. For example, in Sponsored Reviews and PPP which are two of the biggest blog advertising sites now, most advertisers in them would specifically require, only entertain and accept bloggers who have their own domain name. Having your own domain name in this case, will allow you to get more opportunities than if you are on a subdomain blogspot or wordpress.
I hope I answered your question. Thanks again.
hi ccb, congrats on your new domain. mine also new.
but i bought my template-godown.com via namecheap.
and i have a question regarding subdomain creation.
hopes you could help me.
thanks.
Hi there TG,
Thanks for the comment. I do know how to create subdomains but I'm only familiar with it on Godaddy.
But I guess it is all the same basic stuff when it comes to uploading files. If you have your own web hosting for your blog, all you need to do is create the page, save it. Then go to your registrar, create a subdomain specifically for the HTML page you created. Go back to the page, upload it using FTP. Assign that page to redirect to the subdomain you just created.
I think that's how it works basically. But maybe it is easier depending on the FTP client you use.
Thanks again.
