Call Center 80/20 Principle

Pareto PrincipleHas anybody heard of the Pareto Principle? According to wikipedia, known also as the 80-20 rule, it states that in many events, 80 percent of the effects come from 20 percent of the causes. It's a common rule of thumb in many aspects of business.

For example, 80 percent of a call center team's performance comes from only 20 percent of the team members. Make a stack ranking of your agents and notice that the top 20 percent are the ones pulling your team stats up. It also works in reverse, 80 percent of your team's performance is being dragged down by only 20 percent of the team. Make a stack rank of your team again and see that the bottom 20 percent is pulling your quality, AHT, Sales and what have you's.

How is this any relevant? In many cases when you do a stack rank, you are shown data which you can customize your approach to your team. Knowing the top 20 percent and bottom 20 percent should make you understand you who need to focus, help, coach and make action plans for to get your team performance higher. As a fair principle and fair leader, one should always have the time for each and every subordinate one has. But in reality, you only have one body and the demands of being a leader/manager does not allow you to be at many places and attending to the needs of everybody. In my humble opinion, a leaders slash manager's main responsibility rests on his/her own team performance. Therefore, it is good management when you know focus on areas where your team performance needs help. It is good leadership when you make your people understand why you are doing more for people who need help rather than giving everybody equal attention.

Call Center Funnies: Buloy - The Amazing Video

I picked up this amazing video while I was browsing some multiply blogs. This is a rendition of "Buloy" by an American dude that goes by the name of xxthundrrbltxx in youtube.

This is a tribute to Americans who have grown to love the Philippines and the Filipinos. Some of them may have had a great customer experience with one of us Filipino customer service professionals. A select few of them may have came here to share to us their knowledge about their work and grown to love our way of life and made friends along the way.

This guy singing in the video is amazing! We really don't know if he's one of those I mentioned above but by the way he sang Buloy, I felt he really had put a lot of effort in learning the words and proper pronunciation (even if he didn't get everything right :D). His uploaded video in youtube has earned praises and has about 43 comments so far.

Please watch him and feel free to comment here --> http://youtube.com/watch?v=yW4ADfmq04g

BPO Philippines Information Directory Service

From months now, I have been thinking of ways on how I could help readers of this blog more than by just blogging. Yesterday while I found myself unable to sleep for unknown reasons, I went online and logged on to godaddy.com. I found a very good deal of 99 cents for a dot info domain. Suddenly, I find myself buying two generic names for no apparent reason. Then as I concluded the purchase, it suddenly occurred to me that this might be the idea I'm looking for.

My next project is to build my own BPO and Call Center Directory in the Philippines. One that is more comprehensive than already established company directories. It will contain the latest company info, contact details, recruitment channels, company standing and many more. The unique things I want this Philippine BPO directory to have are feedbacks and ratings from actual employees! This will provide the depth of information that people will be reading about and will hopefully convince them to apply at your call centers or BPO companies.

For this task, I will therefore ask a big favor from you readers to be gracious enough to provide good reviews for your own companies so that you may be able to help your companies grow. In addition, if you have referral programs where you are working at, I will allow you to post your referral links or emails so that potential applicants will fall as your referral when they get accepted.
Philippine BPO Information Directory ServiceThis is a big task, I know. But with a little help from you readers and a little "elbow grease", I'm seeing this project as a WIN-WIN endeavor for those who will provide feedback and information, for myself and for the applicants as well!

I've already began the custom domain forwarding and selected the template so far. I'm projecting the Philippine BPO Information Directory Service will be up in about a week or so! Check back here soon for more updates. I hope you guys and girls help me out... Thanks in advance!

Please feel free to leave a comment/message to let me know what you think about this project. Ciao!

Call Center Blog Earnings

I've kept track of my earnings through blogging and my most recent accounting shows that I've already past the 2000 dollars barrier in just a little less than six months of blogging. Check out the breakdown I've made for my earning through several different money making sites I have participated in.
earn money bloggingIt clearly shows my biggest money making exploit is at SR, followed by PPP and third is Smorty. Lurking behind the scenes of these sites, I've also discovered that there seems to be a lot of Filipinos working on these sites too, particularly Smorty but I have no doubt they are also in the others sites just like me.

Two thousand dollars seems like big money just for typing some few meaningful sentences. But don't ask me where I spent all that. I blew it all up! I'm kidding ofcourse. You may be surprised to know that I've used it to pay rent, pay utilities and my broadband internet connection and weekly groceries ofcourse. Come to think of it, I could really be living just off of this gig.
earn money bloggingI'm looking forward to doubling this blog revenue for the next 6 months. My target earnings till the end of October is in the range of $4,000 to $5,000 for the whole year which I believe is attainable given that I've already made half.

In line with this, I'm already developing two other blogs to increase my blog network so I can handle more gigs and earn more for the next few months. If I do hit my target of $5,000 for this year, then I would have earned at least 200,000 pesos which roughly as much as a typical call center agent would have earned in a year! and I do all these in the comforts of my home, in my own time and through free hosted blogs where i don't have to pay for monthly dues just my internet connection. Gosh... I wish more people would do the same...

Paypal Pays To Your Philippine Bank Account

You might have known about this a long time ago. I did as well. I had my Union bank account added in my Paypal account since last January but for the longest time I didn't use it because I feared it may not work and I get a $5 penalty for botched transaction.

The advantage of withdrawing your money to your bank account is that it's totally free for withdrawals over 7,000 pesos and only pay 50 pesos for anything lower than that. Compared to withdrawing your money using a Visa debit or credit card which you pay a $5 fee, it definitely saves you a lot.
Last week, I got a chance to finally test the system so I'll know if it does work. And if it does, then I can finally avoid paying a significant amount just for the money transfer. Transferred less than $100 dollars just to test it knowing I can be deducted $5 if the bank refuses this transfer. Well, 3 days after doing so, it was a complete success! It was a little faster than it usually was when using my EON visa debit card too. All's well that ends well.
If you have an existing EON Visa debit account added in your Paypal account, all you need to do is get you actual Union Bank account number for that Visa debit card and input the bank code assigned for Union Bank Philippines. I did that myself and was approved in a matter of seconds. I'm never withdrawing money using the Visa Debit card way again!Technorati Profile

Check out my previous post about :
1. Paypal Finally paid me!
2. Withdraw only on Mondays and Tuesdays.
